The KPMG Sri Lanka Academy will be hosting the 33rd virtual session of the ‘Friday Mid-Afternoon Chat’ series. The webinar will be on ‘Income Tax - Restoring the Status Quo’. It is scheduled on 27 May from 3.00 p. m. to 4.00 p.m.

Inland Revenue Act No.24 of 2017 was introduced w.e.f. the Y/A 2018/19 as per the recommendations of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). From the beginning of 2020, via several press notices many reforms were introduced that were subsequently legislated. At present, the discussion is around restoring the Status Quo of the Income Tax regime that prevailed before 2020. This program will analyse the pre and post 2020 Income Tax regime and impact of the restoration of the Status Quo.

The virtual session will be conducted by Tax and Regulatory Principal Suresh Perera, Tax and Regulatory Director Hasna Hassan and KPMG Tax and Regulatory Associate Director Sachithra Chandrasena.
