The KPMG Sri Lanka Academy will be hosting the 34th virtual session of the “Friday Mid-Afternoon Chat” series. The webinar will be on “Social Security Contribution Levy”. It is scheduled for the 1 July from 3 to 5 p.m. 

The bill governing the imposition and administration of the Social Security Contribution Levy (SSCL) was published in the Gazette on 21 June 2022. The SSCL is a new tax proposed in the Budget 2022 with the aim of collecting a revenue of Rs. 140 billion. This program will analyse the provisions of the new Bill, dissecting the impact of the new levy on the economy as well as on different industries such as real estate, financial services, manufactures, exporters and supermarkets. The levy is proposed to be effective from 1 July. 

The virtual session will be conducted by Tax and Regulatory Principal Suresh Perera, Tax and Regulatory Director Rifka Ziyard and Tax and Regulatory Associate Director Sachithra Chandrasena at KPMG.
