Janaka Abeysinghe joins LOLC Finance Board

Janaka Abeysinghe

LOLC Finance PLC yesterday said it has appointed Janaka Abeysinghe to its Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director.

Abeysinghe is an accomplished engineer and a corporate leader with over three decades of experience in telecommunications, technology, and business administration. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering, with First Class Honours from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, and a Master of Science (M.S.) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kansas, USA. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Member of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka, and a Member of the Computer Society of Sri Lanka. He is a Fulbright Scholar.

Abeysinghe served as the Group Chief Executive Officer of Sri Lanka Telecom Group and also as the Chief Executive Officer of Sri Lanka Telecom PLC (SLT), leading the organisation through a period of strategic transformation and digital expansion. During his extensive career at SLT, he also held several senior leadership roles, including Chief Enterprise and Wholesale Officer, General Manager, and Deputy General Manager. Prior to joining SLT, he served on the academic staff of the Department of Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka.

He has co-authored research papers on telecommunications published at premier IEEE International Conferences, including the IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM) and the IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC).

Abeysinghe has served on the Boards of several prominent institutions, including the Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology Ltd., Urban Investment and Hotel Development Company Ltd., and Lanka Number Portability Services (Guarantee) Ltd. He has also served on the Boards of Sri Lanka Telecom (Services) Ltd., and Xyntac Singapore Ltd., which are subsidiary companies of SLT. At present, he serves on the Board of the State Mortgage and Investment Bank.

Abeysinghe brings to the Board a wealth of experience in engineering, digital transformation, corporate governance, and strategic management.
