The Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (IRCSL), the regulator of the insurance sector, actively participated at “FinLit Expo” the Financial Literacy Exhibition organised by the Matale regional Branch of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. The event was held over two days, on 12 and 13 September at the Matale Regional Office of the Central Bank.
This significant event brought together all major financial institutions and regulators, including private and Government banks, the Credit Information Bureau, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Colombo Stock Exchange, among others. The exhibition was attended by a wide range of participants, including school and university students, members of the general public, and officials from both the Government and private sectors.
The IRCSL provided visitors with valuable information about insurance, new regulatory initiatives, insurance industry trends and the benefits of insurance to help improve public awareness and understanding.School students were made aware of the basics of insurance, while the public was encouraged to share their personal insurance-related experiences and concerns. The IRCSL took this opportunity to gather feedback and address common issues faced by policyholders, thereby fostering a greater awareness of how to manage and navigate insurance-related challenges in the future.
