IRCSL to host Inter-University Insurance Quiz Competition

The Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (IRCSL) will hold the second edition of its Inter-University Insurance Quiz Competition, “InsureChamp 2026”, on 25 November, 2026 at the BMICH, Colombo 07.

The live on-stage competition, themed ‘Advancing Knowledge, Inspiring Confidence’, will run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Twenty universities and higher education institutions have confirmed participation so far, including state universities, degree-awarding institutions recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and other government universities and institutes established under Acts of Parliament.

The competition aims to improve insurance awareness and financial literacy among undergraduates, offering a national platform to test their knowledge, develop teamwork and analytical skills and understand insurance’s role in financial security, risk awareness and national resilience. It also seeks to build closer ties between universities, the insurance industry and the regulator, and to strengthen the IRCSL’s role as a knowledge partner to academia.

The quiz will comprise five rounds: insurance overview; life and general insurance; financial literacy; current affairs, sports, entertainment, arts and literature; and IQ and logical reasoning.

The champion team will win a cash prize of Rs. 150,000, the first runner-up Rs. 100,000 and the second runner-up Rs. 75,000. A Spirit of Teamwork Award carries Rs. 25,000. Winning teams will also receive trophies, medals and certificates, and all participating students will get Certificates of Participation.
