Haritha Karunanayake joins Co-operative Insurance Board

Co-operative Insurance Company PLC has appointed Haritha Karunanayake to its Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director.

Karunanayake is an experienced professional with active involvement in the co-operative and tea industry sectors. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Matara District Tea Producers Co-operative Societies since August 2025 and as a Director of the Morawakkorale Tea Producers Co-operative Society.

In addition, Karunanayake has served as the Chairman of the Matara District Co-operative Rural Bank Union Ltd. from October 2025, where he is involved in governance and strategic decision-making relating to the rural banking and co-operative financial sector.

He also holds the position of Director of Anmeida Lanka Ltd. since October 2016, contributing to the organisation’s business operations and management.

Karunanayake has gained extensive practical experience in co-operative sector administration, agriculture, and the tea industry through his long-standing engagement with co-operative institutions and related organisations. Over the years, he has participated in several training programmes and workshops relating to co-operative administration, agricultural development, entrepreneurship, and tea processing, further strengthening his knowledge and understanding of the sector.
