Deepal Akuretiyagama appointed Chief Operating Officer of Nations Trust Bank

Nations Trust Bank PLC has announced the appointment of Deepal Akuretiyagama as Chief Operating Officer of the bank with effect from 19 February 2024. 

Akuretiyagama most recently served as Chief Operating Officer at National Development Bank PLC (NDB), where he oversaw a wide range of functions including Retail Credit, Trade and Payments, Treasury Operations, Transaction Monitoring, Credit Administration, Information Technology, Business Process Re-engineering, Corporate Real Estate, Administration and Legal and Information Security.

Prior to his role at NDB, Deepal held various positions at HSBC – Asia Pacific (Philippines, Sri Lanka and Maldives) and Hatton National Bank (HNB). 

Currently pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Colombo, he is also a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and the British Computer Society from the Chartered Institute for IT. He holds a Master of Science in Information Technology and Certificate in Six Sigma Green Belt from Keele University, UK and HSBC Change Delivery, Hyderabad respectively.
