DFCC appoints Deputy CEO Shamindra Marcelline to Board

Shamindra Marcelline

DFCC Bank has appointed Shamindra Marcelline to its Board as an Executive Director. 

Marcelline is a banker with over 27 years of experience across global, corporate, investment, and retail banking, with extensive international exposure through the HSBC Group, including a senior leadership tenure in the Maldives.

He currently serves as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of DFCC Bank PLC, where he provides enterprise-wide leadership across Customer Excellence, Sustainability, Information Security Risk, and operational infrastructure, including Logistics and Real Estate.

Prior to this, Marcelline served as Chief Executive Officer/General Manager of People’s Leasing and Finance PLC from November 2020 to March 2024, where he led a comprehensive organisational transformation. In addition, he served as Director across multiple subsidiaries, including People’s Insurance PLC, People’s Leasing Fleet Management Limited, People’s Leasing Property Development Limited, People’s Leasing Havelock Properties Limited, People’s Micro-Commerce Ltd., and Lankan Alliance Finance Ltd. (LAFL), Bangladesh, contributing to governance oversight across a diversified financial services group.

Before his tenure at People’s Leasing and Finance PLC, he served as Senior Vice President and Head of Corporate Banking at DFCC Bank PLC.

He previously held senior leadership roles within the HSBC Group, including Country Manager for HSBC Maldives and Head of Financial Institutions Group and Public Sector for HSBC Sri Lanka and Maldives. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Economics and Accountancy from City University, London, and a Financial Advisors’ International Qualification (FAIQ) from the Chartered Insurance Institute, United Kingdom.
