The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), in collaboration with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC), has announced a new series of countrywide investor forums.

The first of these forums will be held in Sinhala on the trading floor of the CSE at the World Trade Centre in Colombo on Thursday, 25 June, commencing at 5 p.m.

The CSE will also open its trading floor to those interested in investing in the stock market from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and representatives from stockbroker firms and unit trust associations will be present to facilitate account openings. The first 200 participants who open an account on the day will be eligible to enter a raffle draw for an investment coupon.

The forum, which is free of charge to participants, will feature members of the CSE, SEC, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), representatives of leading stockbroker firms, and unit trust associations, bringing together stakeholders from across the Sri Lankan capital market to provide a comprehensive overview of the capital market for potential investors in the greater Colombo area.

The forum will be conducted amid a remarkable six-year growth in the capital market, which saw the All Share Price Index (ASPI) rise from 4,846 points in May 2020 to 22,310.80 points by the end of May 2026. This represents growth of 360% and a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 28.98%, with capital gains remaining tax-free.

The main feature of each forum will be an interactive panel discussion with the participation of members of the SEC, CSE, leading stockbroking firms, and unit trust associations.

The CSE said the forum aims to raise financial literacy and awareness of the investor protection frameworks in place, educate the public on how to invest in the stock market through either a stockbroker or a unit trust association, and give participants the tools to leverage opportunities in the capital market.

Participants will gain access to a series of sessions conducted by representatives from the CBSL, leading stockbrokers, and unit trust associations, providing in-depth insights into Sri Lanka’s capital market, macroeconomic outlook, sectoral performance, market outlook, and a comprehensive overview of unit trusts. At the forum, participants will also have the opportunity to meet representatives of stockbroker firms and unit trust associations.

Interested parties can register for the forum via the CSE website or by calling 0112356515 or 0112356531.

The Colombo Investor Forum will kick off a nationwide drive to enhance investor education and financial literacy, showcase the capital market, and extend its reach through the CSE’s nationwide presence.
