The Colombo stock market ended in red yesterday with the benchmark index reaching a more than three-month low.
With 120 counters closing in the red against 79 in green, the ASPI was down 0.19% or 39.7% at 21,082.08 and the S&P SL20 declined 0.06% or 3.35 points to 5,936.94.
Market turnover was over Rs. 2.9 billion on over 97.1 million shares traded. Foreign investors were net sellers on a net outflow of over Rs. 1 billion.
The ASPI was weighed down by CTHR, CINS, HHL, SAMP and HNB despite positive contributions from JKH, NTB, RICH, PABC and CARS.
Fixed Capital Research said mixed investor sentiment prevailed during the session, despite healthy market turnover supported by crossing transactions. HNW participation remained high, while retail participation remained average.
Retailing sector led the daily turnover with a share of 37%, followed by the capital goods, and banking sectors collectively contributing 44%.
