The Credit Information Bureau of Sri Lanka (CRIB) convened its 36th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 9 September, bringing together its Board of Directors and representatives of member institutions to review the performance and strategic direction for the financial year ended 31 December 2025.
Following the opening proceedings, CRIB’s essential role in Sri Lanka’s ongoing transition towards macroeconomic stability and sustainable economic recovery was highlighted.
Focusing on the Bureau’s evolving mandate, Chairman K.G.P. Sirikumara said: “As the economy transitions from crisis management to growth reactivation, credit intelligence serves as a critical enabler of recovery. In post-crisis recovery phases, CRIB becomes an instrument of trust reconstruction—enabling financial institutions to move toward data-driven, risk-calibrated credit underwriting frameworks that empower MSMEs and support sustainable real-sector growth.”
Driven by heightened economic activity and increasing reliance on data-led lending, CRIB reported strong operational and financial outcomes for 2025. Total credit and analytical reports issued expanded by 41% to 13.46 million. The adoption of benchmarked CRIB Score reports grew by 89% to 7.7 million, while citizen self-inquiries via MyReport surged 79% to 77,000, reflecting greater public financial awareness. Financial results were equally resilient, with total revenue rising 45% to Rs. 2.41 billion, generating a Profit After Tax of Rs. 1.48 billion (up 42%) and an Earnings Per Share improvement of 44% to Rs. 5,924.
Director/ General Manager Pushpike Jayasundera highlighted the Bureau’s strategic shift in focus: “2025 marked the acceleration of our strategic shift from a traditional credit information provider to a predictive credit intelligence institution. By combining advanced data and behavioural analytics with our extensive data assets, we are empowering institutions to move toward scientific, risk-based decision-making while expanding financial inclusion for thin-file individuals and MSME segments.”
The Bureau also highlighted its robust digital architecture, connecting nearly 70 licensed financial institutions and laying the groundwork for integrating Artificial Intelligence across its core data lifecycle, including acquisition, validation, and dissemination. Additionally, CRIB affirmed active adoption and implementation of the Personal Data Protection framework, which includes appointing dedicated Data Protection Officers and developing a sector-wide data usage code of conduct to ensure maximum transparency and security.
In line with the agenda, shareholders adopted and approved the Annual Report and Statement of Accounts for 2025.
CRIB remains committed to advancing a modern, technology-enabled credit ecosystem anchored in trust, data integrity, credit intelligence, and national economic progress.
