With the assistance of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Bhutan Development Bank recently initiated an exposure visit to Sri Lanka in 2025 as part of its efforts to strengthen operations and expand its focus on women-oriented banking instruments.
During their stay in Sri Lanka, ADB facilitated visits to four key financial institutions: Regional Development Bank (RDB), Commercial Bank PLC, Sanasa Development Bank, and Bank of Ceylon.
On 26 August, the Bhutan Development Bank delegation visited the Head Office of the Regional Development Bank (RDB), where they engaged in discussions with the Corporate Management Team. The program also included one-to-one department-level discussions, branch visits, and project site visits, providing a comprehensive understanding of RDB’s operations, outreach, and development initiatives.
This exposure visit is expected to contribute significantly towards enhancing institutional capacity, promoting best practices in rural and development banking, and strengthening women-focused financial services. It also lays the foundation for continued collaboration and knowledge sharing between Bhutan and Sri Lanka, fostering mutual growth and regional cooperation in the years ahead.
