Banking veteran Jonathan Alles joins Singer Finance Board

Singer Finance (Lanka) PLC has appointed former HNB Managing Director/CEO Jonathan Alles to its Board as a Non-Independent Non-Executive Director.

With over 37 years of banking experience, Alles has worked with several prominent international banks, including the National Bank of Abu Dhabi, Saudi British Bank-Riyadh, British Bank of the Middle East, and HSBC in both Dubai and Colombo. His vast expertise and leadership capabilities were instrumental in steering Hatton National Bank to new heights during his tenure.

Alles holds a First Class MBA in Finance from the University of Stirling, UK. He is an Associate Member of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka.

He served as a Director of the Sri Lanka Banks Association (SLBA) and was its Chairman from 2013 to 2015. In addition, his leadership extended to the international stage, where he was elected Chairman of the Asian Bankers Association in 2018, a position he held for three years, and where he also served on its Board of Directors and as Chairman of the Advisory Committee.

Alles served as the Chairman of many other institutions, namely, Financial Ombudsman Sri Lanka (Guarantee) Ltd, HNB Finance PLC, Acuity Partners Ltd., Lanka Ventures PLC, LVL Energy Fund, Lanka Financial Services Bureau Ltd. and was the Vice Chairman/Council Member of Banking, Financial and Insurance Services Group of the Employers’ Federation of Ceylon.

He also held directorships in Lanka Clear Ltd., HNB Assurance PLC, Sithma Development Ltd., HNB General Insurance Ltd. and Acuity Stockbrokers Ltd. Alles also served as a Member of the Main Committee of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and was a Founder Member/Director of the Advisory Committee of Sri Lanka Business and Biodiversity Platform.

Apart from continuing being a member of Sri Lanka Institute of Directors, he currently serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director to the Board of United Motors Lanka PLC, Ceylon Beverage Holdings PLC and Lion Brewery Ceylon PLC, Hayleys PLC, Singer SL PLC, Alumex PLC, The Kingsbury PLC, DHT Cement, Vallibel One PLC and Laugfs Holdings.

Alles has no relevant interest in Shares/Debentures issued by the company. This appointment was recommended by the Nominations and Governance Committee of the Company and approved by the Board on 23 December 2025. The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has approved the said appointment by their letter dated 5 March 2026.
