Bank of Ceylon marks 11th anniversary in Seychelles

A delegation from the Bank of Ceylon (BOC), led by Chairman Kavinda de Zoysa, Acting Chief Executive Officer Y.A. Jayathilaka, and Country Manager Rajith Thushantha, paid a courtesy call on the Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Seychelles, Manisha Perera, at the High Commission in Victoria recently.

The Acting High Commissioner commended the Bank for its continued contribution to strengthening Sri Lanka–Seychelles economic relations, as well as for its support to local enterprises and the Sri Lankan community in Seychelles. The delegation reaffirmed BOC’s commitment to promoting responsible banking practices and to further enhancing bilateral economic cooperation. 

Established in 2014, BOC Seychelles remains the only Sri Lankan bank operating on the African continent, serving key sectors such as tourism, fisheries, construction, and trade. During the discussion, the Chairman of BOC expressed the Bank’s intention to expand its operations within the African region. In response, the Acting High Commissioner highlighted potential opportunities in Mauritius, to which the High Commission is concurrently accredited.

A ceremony marking the Bank’s 11th Anniversary was held at L’Escale Resort and Marina in Victoria, Mahé. The event was attended by dignitaries, long-standing customers, and business partners. Tokens of appreciation were presented to valued clients in recognition of their continued trust and support.
