BOC secures top honours as ‘SLIM Kantar People’s Banking Services Brand of the year 2024’

Reinforcing its leadership in the banking sector as “Bankers to the Nation,” the Bank of Ceylon clinched the prestigious ‘SLIM Kantar People’s Banking Services Brand of the year’ at the SLIM Kantar People’s Awards presented on 19 March.

The bank’s leadership in empowering the nation through digitalisation, good governance, best practices, financial inclusion, sustainability initiatives, improving financial literacy, enabling savings and thrift, encouraging employability through entrepreneurship development and livelihood development and building the SME sector are key strategic initiatives that sustained and stabilised the nation even during the recent economic crises.  

People’s Awards has been there since 2007 and has been one of the most looked forward to events in the corporate calendar. The uniqueness of these awards are that they are based on consumer preferences, determined on the results of an independent survey. The awards are presented by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM), supported by survey results. The purpose of the awards has been to reward and recognise the brands and personalities that are closest to the hearts of the Sri Lankan people. On behalf of SLIM, Kantar conducted the survey deploying a rigorous data collection and analysis process to select the winners for the awards categories.

The bank’s compelling presence in the physical and digital landscape is deeply rooted with all Sri Lankan stakeholders and is a significant stakeholder in the country’s economy. In the past 84 years, BOC has been a strategic finance partner to a host of Sri Lankan corporates and individuals. 

With over 2,000 touch points spread across the nation, BOC operates 653 branches connected online and an ATM/CDM/CRM network of over 1,350 located island-wide. In addition, BOC also operates overseas branches in Chennai, Male, Hulhu-Male and Seychelles, with a full-fledged banking subsidiary in London. 

Leading the Sri Lankan banking industry, moreover BOC was ranked as the only Sri Lankan Bank among the Top 1000 World Banks 2023 and the Banker of the Year 2023 by The Banker Magazine UK. BOC was also awarded as the Number 1 Banking Brand in Sri Lanka by Brand Finance Lanka. 

A consistent top slot achiever in a series of national and international banking and finance and brand awards, this service award was a further endorsement of the bank’s commitment to a proactive, people centric approach reflected in their core values and evolving business dynamics.
