The newly elected President Thilak Abeysinghe addressing the meeting, stated that it is a big milestone for him to be the President of SBREA when the association is celebrating its 20th year of its existence in 2025. He also graciously remembered the contribution of the following founder members who served in the inaugural committee in 2005.

The President informed that his vision is to create a stronger and more supportive membership where no one is left behind, and also to focus on increasing the membership during the year.

He also stated that the Executive Committee (EXCO) will have a more challenging role in the year of the 20th Anniversary.

Moreover, he proposed the inauguration of a social welfare program to support the underprivileged, elderly, or differently abled members of the community. Events such as musical evenings and stage plays to boost funds, enabling the implementation of proposed projects, will also be looked into during the year.

Abeysinghe expressed the hope that the EXCO members as well as the general membership will come out with innovative ideas which could be implemented during the year of the 20th Anniversary.

He also urged the membership to participate in all activities of the SBREA.

The AGM was followed by a karaoke session enjoyed by the members. It also afforded a good opportunity for the members to meet up with their colleagues, superiors, and friends, reminiscing old memories at Sampath Bank.
