AlchemX Global launched its latest publication, “Insights from the First Wave – Sri Lanka’s emerging SLFRS S1 & S2 Reporting Landscape”, at an event held on recently at Hilton Residencies, Colombo, bringing together representatives from across Sri Lanka’s corporate and reporting ecosystem.
The event was attended by senior representatives and leadership from key institutional and professional bodies including the Colombo Stock Exchange, CA Sri Lanka, the Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standards Monitoring Board, AICPA & CIMA and ACCA together with corporate leaders, clients, reporting professionals and other market participants.
The publication examines the first cycle of sustainability-related financial disclosures in Sri Lanka, assessing disclosures made by the initial cohort of companies applying SLFRS S1 and S2. Rather than treating the Standards as a compliance exercise, the analysis examines how SLFRS S1 and S2 can be embedded in a way that strengthens strategic thinking, risk management and decision-making. It considers the quality and maturity of disclosures across the key pillars of the Standards highlighting stronger practices while identifying where organisations can move towards more connected, specific and decision-useful reporting. By drawing lessons from the first reporting cycle, AlchemX Global aims to create greater visibility around emerging practices, identify areas where the market is progressing well and provide practical insight into where reporting can continue to mature.
AlchemX Global Co-Founders Chamika Perera and Prashani Illangasekera said: “Our objective was to contribute to the collective knowledge of the market by making the lessons from the first reporting cycle more accessible and providing organisations with a practical reference point as implementation matures. The analysis therefore looks beyond whether disclosures are present to consider how reporting can become more connected, specific and decision-useful over time.”
The launch also created a forum for dialogue among preparers, professional bodies, market institutions and corporate leaders on the experiences emerging from the first cycle of reporting. The discussions reflected the growing focus on sustainability-related financial information in Sri Lanka and the importance of continued knowledge sharing as organisations strengthen their reporting practices and underlying processes.
