Abans Finance appoints Acting CEO

Abans Finance PLC has announced the appointment of Upul Lakshman Gunasekara as the Acting CEO of the company.

The appointment follows the retirement of CEO Dharshan Silva from the company from 31 March 2025.

Gunasekara joined Abans Finance PLC in 2019 as Head of Recoveries and was promoted to Deputy Chief Executive Officer in 2023.

He is a seasoned financial industry professional with over 25 years of experience, having started a career as a Management Trainee in 1998. Over nearly 27 years of service, he has held key positions at renowned financial institutions, including Ceylinco Group and LOLC Finance PLC, progressing from Branch Manager to Assistant General Manager. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Wolverhampton, United Kingdom.
