APB Sri Lanka conducts CPDC program on ‘AI in HR: Evolving Future of Banking Industry’

The Association of Professional Bankers (APB) Sri Lanka recently conducted a Continuing Professional Development and Certification (CPDC) program titled ‘AI in HR: Evolving Future of the Banking Industry.’

The session brought together industry leaders, HR professionals, and senior bankers to discuss the growing influence of artificial intelligence (AI) in human resource (HR) management and its wider impact on the banking industry. 

The eminent panel comprised Deloitte Sri Lanka and Maldives Strategy and Analytics Leader Mayura Malagala, Hemas Holdings PLC Chief People and Corporate Affairs Officer Ravi Jayasekara, Asian Development Bank South Asia Regional Department Senior Financial Sector Specialist Manohari Gunawardhena, with DFCC Bank Senior Vice President/Chief HR Officer Paduma Subasinghe as 

moderator.

The program explored the practical integration of AI tools in recruitment, performance management, and learning and development, emphasising how technology can enhance strategic decision-making and strengthen workforce agility in the digital era.

APB Sri Lanka President Anton Arumugam underscored the importance of striking a balance between technological innovation and human intelligence. As the industry transforms, continuous learning and adaptability will be key to building a resilient banking workforce. 

This initiative is part of the APB’s broader effort to enhance continuous learning and promote professional excellence among banking professionals. Under its 2025 vision, APB has launched a series of targeted CPDC programs designed to build knowledge, leadership capability, and adaptability in an evolving financial landscape.

The program concluded with an engaging Q&A session and networking opportunity, reaffirming the APB’s commitment to fostering collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing across the banking community.
