Winner People's Bank
The Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, attended the Global Commerce Quiz 2025 as the Chief Guest and presented the sixth Governor’s Challenge Trophy which coincided with the 75th anniversary celebrations of CBSL. The event was held on 9 June 2025 at Galadari Hotel, Colombo.
People’S Bank emerged as the overall Champion of the Governor’s Challenge Trophy 2025. First Runners- up was Central Bank of Sri Lanka and Second Runner-up was Seylan Bank PLC. The competition also recognised six sector winners, highlighting excellence across diverse industries.
Celebrating knowledge, leadership, and the spirit of competition, the event organised by the Shippers’ Academy Colombo, and conducted by International Quizzing Association (IQA) Sri Lanka branch by Ruwan Senanayake, attracting 45 teams representing institutions from across the private and public sectors. Held for the sixth time this biennial quiz aims to promote knowledge-sharing and awareness on global commerce, economics, and current affairs.
It was highlighted at the event by the Shippers’ Academy Colombo CEO Rohan Masakorala, that companies, corporates and institutions should establish quiz teams within their institutions which can bring benefits such as increased knowledge and productivity. MasterCard Sri Lanka and the Maldives Country Manager Sandun Hapugoda, was the special guest who spoke about digitalisation and knowledge building.
