The Sri Lankan Army has a new initiative to support the dependents of soldiers who have sacrificed their lives and limbs for their country. Ranasena Udhanaya which will take place on the grounds at the Nawinna Arpico Showroom from 24 to 28 of this month combines a carnival and an exhibition open to the public. The exhibition will include attractions such as armored trucks, artillery and defence vehicles, demonstrations of rescue missions by the commandos as well as demonstrations organised by the army kennels.   The carnival will feature various activities for both adults and children such as the Ferris wheel, roller coaster, elephant ride, dream flight, tea cup ride, animal ride, spider man bouncer as well as the wall of death as well as various game stalls and an exhibition by brass bands from local boys and girls schools. The event will also have a shopping area with over 185 stalls that contain a range of items such as clothes, furniture, electronics and various hand crafted products. A musical show has also been organised and will feature many popular local acts such as, Sunflower, Purple Range, Sanidapa, Bache with Fire and Marians. The army has a proud history spanning 65 years since its beginning in 1949 which includes the successful eradication of the terrorist organisations that tormented the country in a 30 year civil war. The exhibition is being organised in an effort to raise funds to support the dependents of army soldiers as well as to build necessary recreational facilities for those soldiers.
