Adding more glamour to its 75th Anniversary celebrations, Bank of Ceylon organised an in-house talent show, ‘Prathiba Praba’ to stage the hidden talents of the bank’s staff members. The event took place at the BMICH last Saturday, 30 August from 1:30 p.m. onwards. Together with this event the bank recognised the service of 40 staff members who have completed 25 years of exemplary service. Each was awarded a gold coin in appreciation of their contribution towards building the bank to ready the prestigious position it occupies today. The evening was filled with songs, dances and drama performed by staff members. The ‘Sayuru Rala Raga’ performed by the BOC’s Western Province South was chosen as the best act of the event. “As an employer of over 8,000 employees we look into the welfare and development of our staff very seriously. We believe an event such as this organised in line with the banks 75th Anniversary is an ideal moment to recognise their other talents providing them a stage to display their artistic and creative side as different from that of being a professional banker,” stated Bank of Ceylon General Manager D.M. Gunasekara. “It was such an overwhelming moment to all the staff to witness such talent within the bank,” commented the staff of BOC. Bank of Ceylon is the largest employer in the banking and financial sector in Sri Lanka. BOC maintains a presence in every nook and corner locally and has its international presence in London as a subsidiary of the bank and three other foreign branches in Male, Chennai and Seychelles. The bank earned global recognition as one of the top 1,000 banks in the world, as listed by The Banker Magazine (UK) respectively in 2012, 2013 and 2014. It claimed its award as the only Sri Lankan brand recognised as one of Asia’s Best Brands in 2013 by the Chief Marketing Officer’s Council (CMO Council) based in Mumbai, India. Brand Finance Lanka ranked Bank of Ceylon as the No.1 brand in Sri Lanka for the last six consecutive years. The Bank of Ceylon recorded yet another hat-trick in 2013 at the National Business Excellence awards ceremony organised by the National Chamber of Commerce.
