Flame heats up Margarita Blue

Spanning nearly 25 years in the industry, the popular band Flame has evolved from a tiny spark to a blazing flame that will be heating up the Margarita Blue pub of the Galadari Hotel. The now seven member band includes Naushad Rassool (Leader/Vocalist), Chris de Alwis (Guitarist), Diren Sabarathnam (Drums), Primal Liyanage (Guitarist), Nishantha de Abrew (Keyboardist), Joe Lappen (Bass guitarist) and Anne Jayamanne (Vocalist). Having started off with songs from the 70s and 80s the band has branched out into modern times, encompassing the genres of pop, rock, jazz, funk and Sri Lankan favourites as well.

Flame having experienced acclaimed success over two decades, was discovered by the German airline, Lufthansa in Colombo which took them to Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Delhi to play at their corporate events, where they wowed the guests. The band was also invited to tour in Dubai in 2009, New York in 2010 and Doha in 2011 where they enthralled the audiences with some mind blowing performances. Recognised by audiences everywhere they played, Flame hit the headlines in 1994 by receiving the Golden Clef Award as Folk Band of the Year. The band will presently be performing at the Margarita Blue every Wednesday from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., with their debut performance at the pub taking place on 7 May 2014.
