“Megan 2.0” arrives at Lankan cinemas from today

Science fiction horror film “Megan 2.0” will be shown in 10 cinemas of Sri Lanka from today.

They are Kandy City Centre, Liberty by Scope Kollupitiya, Liberty by Scope Kiribathgoda, Scope Cinema – Colombo City Centre, Scope Cinema – Havelock City Mall, PVR Cinema, Chaya Cinema, Ram Cinema, Vijaya Cinema and Regal Cinemas.

The film written and directed by Gerard Johnstone from a story by Johnstone and Akela Cooper. A sequel to M3GAN (2022), the plot follows M3GAN (model 3 generative android) being rebuilt to combat a humanoid military robot built using M3GAN’s technology that is attempting an AI takeover.

The film stars Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, Ivanna Sakhno, and Jemaine Clement, with Amie Donald physically portraying M3GAN while Jenna Davis voices the character. Jason Blum and James Wan return as producers under their respective Blumhouse Productions and Atomic Monster companies.

Two years after M3GAN, a marvel of artificial intelligence, went rogue and embarked on a murderous rampage, its creator, Gemma, has become an advocate for government oversight of AI. Unbeknownst to her, a defense contractor has created a military-grade weapon known as Amelia, the ultimate infiltration spy. However, as Emlia’s self-awareness increases, it becomes less interested in taking orders. Hoping to stop Emilia, Gemma decides to resurrect M3GAN, making it faster, stronger, and more lethal.
