The Selvern Trust launched SELVE, a groundbreaking AI-based spoken English app, at a well-attended event held at the Granbell Hotel, Colombo 03. Designed to make English communication more accessible, SELVE aims to uplift learners through intuitive, real-time AI-driven support.
The key objective at Selvern Trust is to support the talented rural and urban men and women in Sri Lanka that are seeking to realise their dreams and aspirations.

Built with simplicity and relevance in mind, SELVE addresses core communication needs for all age groups and literacy levels.
The app was developed in collaboration with Headstart (a Dialog company), the Rainbow Institute of Communication and Perfectus, combining educational expertise, technological innovation and social impact.
“SELVE is not just a language tool — it’s a bridge to confidence, opportunity and empowerment,” noted Selvern Trust Founder Chairman Vijendran Watson at the launch.
Watson currently serves as Chairman of BoardPAC and Headstart, two leading digital platforms in board governance and education. With over 40 years of global experience in the ICT sector — including leadership roles at Mobitel and EDOTCO — he is passionate about youth empowerment and driving innovation through technology and education.
“The app uses AI to replicate real-life conversations, helping users practice their spoken English in a natural and interactive way. It’s all about building confidence and equipping our people with the tools they need to thrive abroad.” he further added.
