Established in 1990 to address Sri Lanka’s maritime training needs, CINEC Campus has grown into one of the country’s leading higher education providers. Over the past 35 years, the institution has produced thousands of graduates who contribute to both local and international industries. Today, CINEC delivers a broad portfolio of academic and professional qualifications supported by advanced facilities and strong international affiliations.

CINEC operates across eight faculties: Maritime Sciences, Marine Engineering, Engineering and Technology, Management and Social Sciences, Health Sciences, Science, Computing, Humanities and Education. Together, these faculties offer more than 200 programs, ranging from certificates to postgraduate degrees, with an annual enrolment of approximately 22,000 students. This structure allows the institution to serve a wide range of career pathways while maintaining consistency in quality and professional readiness.

Since receiving approval from the Ministry of Higher Education in 2013 to confer its own degrees, CINEC has further expanded its role in Sri Lanka’s private higher education sector. The institution has also received the Presidential Export Award for Education Services in 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024, recognising its contribution to the national economy.

CINEC’s degree programs are strengthened through partnerships with globally recognised universities. The latest addition to this is Anglia Ruskin University, UK. A key collaboration is with Anglia Ruskin University, UK, established in 1858, which holds a TEF Gold award for teaching excellence, a 5-star QS rating, and inclusion in the Times Higher Education listings. Through this partnership, CINEC delivers qualifications in engineering, computing, and health sciences that meet international benchmarks and ensure recognition in the global employment market.

CINEC continues to extend access to higher education across the country with campuses in the North, East, and Colombo, as well as an international hotel school in the North Western Province. International accreditation under the STCW Convention has also enabled operations in Seychelles.

As a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities and listed in the World Higher Education Database, CINEC maintains its position as a trusted institution for producing industry-ready professionals. Its focus remains on academic rigor, professional relevance, and the delivery of qualifications that prepare students for long-term success.

Marking 35 years of service, CINEC Campus reinforces its commitment to advancing higher education in Sri Lanka through continued innovation, international collaboration, and the development of graduates who are ready to meet the needs of a competitive global economy.
