‘Yaal Virindu’ Jaffna food festival at Ramada Colombo to tickle taste buds this week

The Ramada Colombo is well-known as the first hotel to introduce the Jaffna Food Festival and following its customs, this year, the renowned hotel is collaborating with Thushara and Danu Innasithamby from My Sister’s Kitchen, who are both from Jaffna, for the ‘Yaal Virindu,’ Jaffna culinary festival. The Yaal Virindu Jaffna food festival will take place from 27 to 30 October.

Speaking at the press briefing at Ramada, Danu Innasithamby from My Sister’s Kitchen said that the Yaal Virindu Jaffna culinary festival looks forward to serving people with the flavours consumed since we were young.

“The Yaal Virindu Jaffna food festival aims to present dishes with the original flavours of the Jaffna cuisine with a twist,” Innasithamby added.

Thushara from My Sister’s Kitchen and Director Culinary at Ramada Colombo, Chef Nuwan, have collaborated in putting together an amazing cuisine that brings out the original flavours of Jaffna food for this year’s Yaal Virindu. The menu features an extensive selection of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian Jaffna specialties, including the renowned Odiyal Kool, fried ash plantain, coconut chips served in coconut shells, mutton bone soup, lagoon crab curry, a variety of seafood specialties, northern sweetmeats topped with Nelli and palmyra Hakuru ice cream, and more.

This tantalising dinner buffet is specially prepared with spices and fresh produce transported from Jaffna will be served from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Ramada’s Gardenia restaurant.

This flavourful dinner buffet will be buttressed with fried action stations by the poolside and is curated with spices and fresh produce brought directly from Jaffna. (ZR)
