Gamma Pizzakraft Lanka Ltd., the single franchisee for Pizza Hut, Sri Lanka’s most loved and trusted pizza brand, achieved a significant milestone as it proudly opened its 100th Store on 14 October at Kurunegala, Gettuwana in the presence of many special guests and dignitaries from the internationally acclaimed Pizza Hut chain.

Turning 100 is a milestone not many can boast of as it is a distinction that only the persevering can achieve. Attaining such a milestone takes grit and determination, especially considering the setbacks suffered by the country and people over the last few years.

Achieving a 100-outlet estate is a monumental statement of courage and conviction in the face of seemingly unsurmountable odds. The company also shared that it has ambitious expansion plans to considerably increase its footprint in Sri Lanka in the next five years. Pizza Hut has been on a steady growth trajectory and plans to enter several new cities by the end of 2023.

Gamma Pizzakraft Lanka Managing Director Amar Raj Singh said: “It is the loyal customers of Pizza Hut here in Sri Lanka that helped us get to this enviable position. I take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to our customers, community, and well-wishers and feel greatly inspired and encouraged by the resilience of our countrymen during these turbulent times, to move forward courageously with the company’s expansion program.”

Pizza Hut has constantly strived to contribute towards the economic growth of the country through revenue generation and social investments. It has made conscious efforts to develop employment opportunities and uplift and enable social growth through commendable projects such as the establishment of Vocational Training Centres with the Department of Social Services in Sri Lanka and Skills Development and Vocational Education Division of Ministry of Education, to improve the economic engagement of marginalised youth and persons with disabilities.

Gamma Pizzakraft Lanka CEO Yasa Nadaraja said: “We owe deep gratitude to the dedicated and passionate people who work tirelessly at every Pizza Hut outlet to deliver a product that meets our stringent quality standards and serve our customers to their fullest satisfaction. Without all of them and their commitment, we could not have got to this chapter in our story of success.”

Pizza Hut, a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, Inc., and founded in 1958, has become the most-recognised pizza restaurant in the world, operating more than 18,000 restaurants in more than 100 countries. Locally, Pizza Hut is the largest chain of international QSR restaurants in Sri Lanka.

Behind this achievement are a dedicated staff of 3,000 ranging from riders to restaurant team members to the in-store and above-store leaders whose commitment and dedication have ensured the continued success of the brand over the past 29 years.

In November 1993, Pizza Hut made its foray into Sri Lanka with a restaurant in Union Place, Colombo 2, becoming the first international pizza chain to enter Sri Lanka and introduce the concept of a Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) and the iconic Pan Pizza.

With the celebration of 100 outlets, Pizza Hut remains positive and enthusiastic about the future of the country and its people. Pizza Hut is here to stay, to grow, and to prosper.
