Union Assurance helps fight Dengue

In line with their keen commitment to the betterment of the society, Union Assurance PLC (UA) a key player in the Sri Lankan Insurance sector launched a colossal Dengue awareness campaign on the 15th of June2012.

It is clearly evident; the Dengue menace is a pressing issue that has been affecting the entire island. UA directed an islandwide initiative aimed at educating the public which also included cleaning up of more than 75 schools islandwide. What is interesting note is that this campaign was not limited only to Colombo and reached the public of all parts of the island. More than 4,000 UA employees attached to over 100 branches spread across the country, was actively and passionately involved in the campaign, joining hand with the Ministry of Health.

“This campaign is aligned with our corporate objective of adding value to all our stakeholders. Dengue is a national issue and as one of the largest providers of health insurance solutions we remain committed to ensuring that steps are taken to minimize the spread of this deadly virus” commented Dirk Pereira – CEO of Union Assurance. This project is a part of the “Union Day” initiative of the company which aims at educating the general public on contemporary issues that concern health & safety, an important component of the UA – CSR agenda.
