Sinopec partners SOS Children’s Villages to transform lives of children in need

World’s third largest company, Sinopec once again proved how much they are committed towards the well-being of the community when they donated school books and stationeries to SOS Children’s Village in Jaffna at a ceremony held recently. The ceremony was held under the patronage of the senior officials of Sinopec Lubricants with the participation of SOS Children’s Village staff, officials and children. The SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka has taken care of many needy children and youth in the Northern Province since 2012 and provided the love, respect and security for many, who were mainly affected by the war in the north and east for over three decades. The new SOS Children’s Village, Jaffna is situated at Nayanmarkaddu, Nallur just 4.5 km from Jaffna city. Sinopec Lubricants has involved in a number of Corporate Social Responsibility projects in a number of previous occasions which has benefited several segments of the community in a significant way. Sinopec Lubricants General Manager Ushan Wijewardena said that being a leading company in the world, they are committed towards the well-being of the society. “We launched a number of projects which eventually led to benefit the communities around the globe and today’s program is also part of that. We learnt that with the donation made to the SOS Village in Jaffna, the children will be able to get proper primary/secondary education throughout the year. We are privileged to partner with SOS Children’s Village in this CSR activity in the form of transforming the lives of children’s in need,” added Wijewardena.

“By providing school books and stationary, Sinopec Lubricants has done a yeoman service to these children in need in the SOS Children’s Village. Keeping with our objective to provide proper education to children at SOS Children’s Village, we highly appreciate Sinopec Lubricants’ efforts for coming forward to help children at SOS Jaffna Children’s Village,” SOS Director Fund Development and Communications Thivanka Thomas said addressing the gathering at the occasion.
