MNCs extend support for ‘Api Wenuwen Api’ fund

Unilever Sri Lanka Limited made a financial donation to the ‘Api Wenuwen Api’ fund at a function held this week at the Defence Ministry premises. Secretary Defence and Urban Development Gotabaya Rajapaksa accepted the donation from Urith Perera, Customer Development Director of Unilever. The Ministry of Defence has launched the ‘Api Wenuwen Api’ war hero housing project with the aim of uplifting the living standard of war heroes and their families by assisting them to build their own houses. This project is being conducted under the guidance and close supervision of Secretary Defence and Chairperson of the Defence Ministry’s Seva Vanitha Unit Ioma Rajapaksa to build new houses islandwide for veteran war heroes or their families. Meanwhile Ceylon Tobacco Company (CTC) also made a financial donation for the construction of a new Police station in Weerakatiya in the Matara District. The donation was handed over to the Secretary by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CTC Felicio Ferraz in the presence of Ministry officials and company representatives.
