Sanasa annual Nelum Mal Pooja in Anuradhapura

The annual Buddhist event of offering lotus flowers (Nelum Pooja) at the premises of Ruwanweli Maha Seya and Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura organised by the Sanasa Movement was held recently for the 24th time. This year’s event, held to bestow blessings on all Sri Lankans, was carried forth by Sanasa societies, led by the Bodhi Rajapura Sanasa Society in Puttalam. This year’s event, which commenced with the offering of lotus flowers to Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi on 6 January and concluded with the offering of milk-based food (Kiri Ahara Pooja) for Ruwanweli Maha Seya and the almsgiving at Abhayagiriya in the afternoon on 7 January, was held under the patronage of the Sanasa Movement leader Vishwa Prasadini, Dr. P. A. Kiriwandeniya. Thousands of devotees from all parts of the island representing Sanasa societies took part in it, and the event had been organised with the relevant rituals with utmost devotion. A procession with various dance elements had also been organised for the lotus flower offering under the initiative of Sanasa societies island-wide. The Sanasa Movement, which is constantly committed to ensuring the well-being of the people and the country, implements various community care programs annually, with the support of all other institutions under the Sanasa Movement. Sanasa Life Insurance expressed its gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the program.
