In keeping with its commitment to promote a healthy lifestyle for all Sri Lankans, Quantum Fitness has donated a world-renowned fitness-enhancing, Power Plate, to the Foundation of Goodness (FoG).

The donation was accepted by former Sri Lankan cricket captain and a Trustee of FoG, Kumar Sangakkara. Quantum Fitness Chairman Nomal Wijeyaratne, FoG Project Manager Sangeeth Sangeeran, and Quantum Fitness Assistant Sales Manager – Commercial Lishan Thenuwara, were also present.

In 2019, Sri Lanka’s pioneer fitness equipment supplier, Quantum Fitness, provided the Power Plate – used by celebrated athletes worldwide – to FOG, for a trial run. This was tested by a diverse range of athletes at FOG’s training facility in Seenigama, for over a period of nine months. After witnessing how the athletes benefited from it, Quantum Fitness decided to permanently donate the equipment to the training facility.

At the event, Kumar Sangakkara spoke of how having a fitness regime consisting of both aerobic and anaerobic exercises, monitored by highly qualified personnel, was helpful to him during his cricketing prime and that it is important to find what is suitable for one’s level of fitness. The Power Plate is a training product that can enhance one’s workout experience and will be beneficial to athletes of all levels, he added.

The Power Plate is a fitness machine that helps elite athletes as well as amateur fitness enthusiasts to achieve their fitness goals by helping them ‘Prepare Faster, Perform Better and Recover Quicker.’ It’s engineered to activate the body’s natural reflexive response to vibrations and uses advanced Whole Body Vibration (WBV) technology to increase ones’ agility and flexibility, strengthen and build muscles, improve blood circulation, burn fat, improve metabolism and even induce faster relief from muscle pain. It gives a complete workout experience in just 15 minutes and is also suitable for the elderly and patients undergoing rehabilitation.

Quantum Fitness has a longstanding partnership with FoG, which has been in operation in Sri Lanka for over 20 years, working to bridge the gap between rural and urban communities and empowering promising young talent by providing many opportunities via 11 empowerment centres island-wide which reach an approximate 31,500 beneficiaries from 400 villages annually, free of cost. Education, professional and vocational training and sports are some of the key areas that FoG works in. “Sports has been incorporated as an important aspect in the work done by FOG as engaging in sports results in improved health and boosts immunity while also instilling qualities of teamwork, respect and discipline,” Kumar said.

A cricketer who made use of the Power Plate given for a trial by Quantum Fitness to FOG said that his speed of bowling increased with this workout and a triathlon athlete testified that he was able to meet new national records by strengthening his muscles after using the Power Plate. A champion swimmer also added that, “I feel relaxed after using this machine. The arm muscles have grown’ and another swimmer said that “I previously finished 50 m in 33 seconds. Now I am able to finish in 30 seconds.” The athletes who benefit from the FoG program were overjoyed by the progress they had experienced after using the Power Plate and were grateful to Quantum Fitness for allowing them to use it at no cost as they greatly benefitted by this donation.

Quantum Fitness is grateful for the opportunity to support Sri Lanka’s young talent and take Sri Lankan sports to the next level and is looking forward to continuously working with FOG on their upcoming projects.
