The Sri Lankan Police plays a pivotal role in preventing COVID-19 virus spreading in the country through its strong network of over 84,000 personnel. With the aim of supporting their services and protecting lives, Lanka IOC handed over a consignment of urgently required hand sanitisers to the Police Force as a support in their fight to combat the spread of COVID-19.
The handing over was done by Lanka IOC MD Manoj Gupta to DIG, Police Ajith Rohana primarily for Field Force Headquarters of Sri Lanka Police where about 2,000 Police personnel are deployed. Commandant Field Force Headquarters SSP Chandana J. Kodituwakku was also present during the occasion.
“The Sri Lankan Police is actively engaged in supporting the health sector and other authorities with a view to preventing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and has an increased risk of exposure to the virus. Through this gesture, we hope to make our contribution to protect the lives of those fighting to safeguard us from this global pandemic. It is intended to help Sri Lankan police officers to reduce their risk of contracting the ‘COVID-19’ virus and to continue their duties without interruption,” said Lanka IOC MD Manoj Gupta. DIG Ajith Rohana appreciated the efforts and concern of the company in support for Police Force in its fight to combat the spread of COVID-19. Manoj Gupta assured of continued regular support.
Lanka IOC has been engaged in contributing on regular basis as a support in the battle against the spread of COVID-19. Earlier this year, Lanka IOC contributed Rs. 5 million to COVID-19 Healthcare and Social Security Fund besides contributing Rs. 1 million to its associate company M/s CPSTL for distribution of hand sanitisers. Besides above, Lanka IOC also donated peddle-push washbasins, thermometers and masks to eight schools to ensure hygiene and as a preventive measure for COVID-19 infections among school-going children.
