Lanka IOC gives away essential medicines to Castle Street Hospital for Women

Lanka IOC has always come forward in efforts to support the country’s endeavour to mitigate the unprecedented challenges from the scarcity of essentials and economic meltdown. The raging pandemic and scarcity of medical items in the country are posing unforeseen challenges especially to health institutions. LIOC has stepped up with commitment in giving back to society through its CSR activities by way of distribution of essential medicines and medical items to Castle Street Hospital for Women. 

LIOC MD Manoj Gupta along with Umesh Gautam from Indian CEO Forum donated essential medicines and medical items worth Rs. 2 million on this occasion to the Director Dr. K.D.P. Wijesinghe who was highly appreciative of Lanka IOC’s gesture 

The Castle Street Hospital for Women is the premier women’s hospital in Sri Lanka. Able to serve a wide array of services to women, it currently has a strength of 442 beds. The hospital started serving maternity patients 59 years ago. It provides services to expecting mothers, gynaecological patients, sub-fertile patients and neonates. The hospital performs more than 16,000 deliveries per year. It also has one of the largest neonatal units in Sri Lanka. The hospital is a tertiary care teaching hospital and is a forerunner in training health staff. The Castle Street Hospital has a 24h OPD with a number of clinics for follow-up visits for patients. More than 100,000 patients visit the hospital clinics every year. In addition it is composed of ante-natal, sub-fertility, medical, neonatal, well-woman, and diabetic clinics. 

LIOC is operating with strong fundamentals and always endeavours to connect with society in the various CSR activities by way of unique and effective projects that add value to the society. The Lanka IOC MD extended heartfelt thanks to the hospital management for giving this noble opportunity and assured them of continued regular empathy and assistance to the best possible extent for such help.

In chief attendance at the donation ceremony were Castle Street Hospital Director Dr. Pradeep Wijesinghe, LIOC Managing Director Manoj Gupta, and Lanka Ashok Leyland CEO Umesh Gautham representing the Indian CEO Forum, along with the staff of both the Castle Street Hospital and Lanka IOC.
