Keells leading the way in the retail industry with safety standards in store for customers and team members has also taken an additional step to ensure the safety of the Colombo Public Health Inspectors by donating 100 Personal Protetcive Equipment (PPE) kits and face shields.

Together with the collaboration of the John Keells Foundation, Keells made this timely donation to the Colombo PHI’s who are playing a very important role in the front lines maintaining public safety during this COVID-19 pandemic period. Keells once again display how important it is for all businesses to be responsible and reach out to all stakeholders during this time to overcome this challenging period together.

In the months of March and April, Keells supported many community efforts where the supermarket chain donated 20 tons of vegetables to armed forces, the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH) and also charity organisations just before the lockdown.

A request from the Gampaha District Hospital for face masks was also fulfilled by providing the hospital with 500 KN95 masks identifying the importance of the safety of essential service workers. A total of 300 packs of essentials were also distributed by Keells to farmers and families facing a lockdown in Sooriyawava, a location that Keells has been sourcing fresh produce for eight years.
