Hutch, the country’s growing choice for broadband data communication services, is continuing its efforts to support communities during this economically challenging time. Amongst several community support initiatives that Hutch has been conducting, it is also supporting devotees at the Nallur Festival in Jaffna with Annadanam – meal offering.

The Nallur Festival is the largest Hindu temple festival in the northern region of Jaffna, and Annadanams feature as a sacred tradition of offering food to those attending the festival.

With inflation, particularly food inflation rising to over 80%, people around the country are finding it increasingly difficult to have nutritious meals. Hutch has therefore, as part of its community and social support efforts, taken the initiative to alleviate some of the burden by providing meal assistance. More than 10,000 people will be served at the Hutch Annadanam during a period of 20 days from 5 to 25 August at the Nallur Mylooran Arangam.

Commenting on the initiative, Hutch Sri Lanka CEO Thirukumar Nadarasa commented, “Instead of conducting normal commercial operations this Nallur Festival, Hutch decided instead to allocate these funds to providing the people in the northern region with a fair meal.”

Nadarasa’s family roots originate from the northern region of Jaffna. He was educated in the UK, obtaining three degrees from three leading UK universities including Imperial College, London, and has worked for Hutchison Telecom’s HQ in Hong Kong for the past 25 years posted to multiple operations in Asia.

Hutch Sri Lanka, is a subsidiary company of CK Hutchison Holdings Ltd., a Global Fortune 500 company with global telecom operations also under the brand ‘3’ or Three.
