A fundamental advantage of the competition is that it has also helped organisations producing annual reports to transform its reporting methodology and style, to help investors and other stakeholders gain better insight into the organisation’s operations, and achievements.

The Annual Report Awards Competition has played a key role in strengthening Sri Lanka’s financial landscape, whilst also ensuring that our country boasts of a world class accounting framework which is in line with international standards.

A fundamental advantage of the competition is that it has also helped organisations producing annual reports to transform its reporting methodology and style, to help investors and other stakeholders gain better insight into the organisation’s operations, and achievements.

Transparency, accountability, together with good governance and social responsibility are fundamental pillars in achieving success. Hence, the need for producing transparent annual reports in line with globally accepted standards is pivotal. Every year, the number of participants vying for the prestigious honours increase, and this is alone is proof of the competition’s importance, and the continuing commitment by the organisations to produce quality reports.

This year’s Annual Report Awards Competition incorporated several adjustments to reflect the changes the business landscape has been undergoing since COVID. Therefore, the Annual Report Awards Committee decided to introduce several concessions and considerations pertaining to the evaluation at the 56th Annual Report Awards Competition.

For the first time in the competition’s 56-year-old history, and in our efforts to maximise technology to our advantage, we have automated the marking system instead of following the manual-based system which has been the practice for many years.

At this year’s competition, apart from the overall winners, as well as the special awards for corporate governance, corporate social responsibility and integrated reporting, awards will also be presented under 26 categories, where the winning companies will receive gold, silver and bronze awards.

I congratulate the winners of the 56th Annual Report Awards and commend their continuing commitment towards transparency and good governance.

Chaaminda Kumarasiri

Chairman
