Tea auctions brew fresh all time record prices

Three all time record prices, established on 13 and 19 February 2013, were improved by the same factories at this week’s sale. These all time record prices were established in Ex-Estate and High and Medium catalogues of Forbes & Walker Tea Brokers Ltd.

Court Lodge Estate Pekoe 1 grade established a new all time record price of Rs. 1,500 per kilogram, improving on the Rs. 1,300 per kilogram established by them on 19 February 2013 for the same grade in the Nuwara Eliya category. The buyer of this line of tea was Classic Teas (Pvt.) Ltd. and the estate is managed by Uda Pussellawa Plantations PLC.

Pedro Estate established a new all time record price of Rs. 1,350 per kilogram, for a OP Grade, improving on the Rs. 1,000 per kilogram established by the same estate on 13 February 2013 for the same grade in the Nuwara Eliya category. The buyer of this line of tea was St. Clair Teas (Pvt.) Ltd. Pedro Estate is owned by Kelani Valley Plantations PLC.

Craighead Estate FBOP Grade established a New all Time Record price of Rs. 740 per kilogram, improving on the Rs. 720 per kilogram established by them on 19 February 2013 for the same grade in the Western Medium category. The buyer of this line of tea was J – CEY – TEA Ltd. Craighead Estate is owned by Kahawate Plantations PLC.
