Sri Lanka tea output tops 300 million kilos

 (PTI) Sri Lanka’s tea output in the first 11 months of this year crossed 300 million kilos though production fell marginally during the month of November, the official Ceylon Tea Board said today.

Sri Lanka is one of the largest producers of tea in the world and the beverage is the main export commodity of the island nation.



The Ceylon Tea Board said production in the 11 months to November reached 302 million kilos, up from 264 million kilos in the same period last year.

The November tea output fell to 26 million kilos, down from 29 million kilos last year, it said.
