Somaratne appointed to Lanka Walltiles Board

R. Nandajith Somaratne has been appointed to the Board of Lanka Walltiles Plc as a Non-Executive Director with effect from 1 January 2014. He currently serves as a Director of Royal Porcelain Ltd. and Ever Paint & Chemical Industries Ltd, the fully-owned subsidiaries of Royal Ceramics Lanka Plc, and as a Director of Hayleys MGT Knitting Mills Plc, a subsidiary of Hayleys Plc.

Somaratne currently works as the General Manager (Manufacturing) for Royal Ceramics Group, which includes Lanka Walltiles Plc and Lanka Tiles Plc. He has served in Ansell Lanka Ltd. and in Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau before joining Royal Ceramics Plc in 1993. Somaratne counts over 20 years of experience in the ceramic industry and manufacturing field. He holds a MBA from the University of Colombo, Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering from NIBM and BSc degree (Physical Science) from the University of Peradeniya. With the latest appointment, the Board of Directors of Lanka Walltile Plc comprises Nimal Perera (Chairman), J.A.P.M. Jayasekera (Managing Director), A.M.L. Page, S. Selliah, C.L.V. Jayatilleke, Tilak de Zoysa, S.R. De Silva, P.S.R. Casie Chitty, C. Muttukmaru (alternate to A.A. Page), T.G. Thoradeniya, K.D.G. Gunaratne and R.N. Somaratne.
