SLTB to import 25 Volvo buses

The Chairman of Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) said that 25 Volvo buses would be imported to the state owned passenger transport service.

SLTB Chairman M.D. Bandusena said that the buses would be imported in January and that each bus costs Rs. 22 million.



The official said two buses that have been already imported and are now in operation between Colombo and Moratuwa on Galle Road and Colombo and Kottawa on High Level Road bring in a good revenue to the SLTB.

The imported buses are to be run on short distances in the main entry roads to Colombo city.

The official said that the plans are underway to import 200 buses from India to be deployed in long distance services.
