Participating at the recently held Future Minds Exhibition, the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) provided an opportunity for young students who gathered at the event to get an idea of the educational portfolio of SLIM. “As the National body for Marketing, we see the great importance of communicating to students and professionals in Sri Lanka of the study programs we possess, and assist them to grow up in their career ladder by becoming valued professionals. The Future Minds Expo organised by the Nalanda Old Boys Association was a good opportunity for us to do so,” said SLIM President Kalana Rathnayaka. While SLIM has been participating at the Future Minds Expo regularly, this year SLIM was a Silver sponsor for the event. Seeing a large crowd gathered at the SLIM stall conveyed us the message about the vitality of marketing being understood by the youngsters. The exhibition was held at the BMICH on 6, 7 and 8 June, Kandy on 14 and 15 June at the KCC, and is scheduled to be held at the Galle Town Hall on 6 and 7 this year. Explaining that education is an integral part of SLIM, Vice President Education SLIM Ruwan Liyanagamage said that coming forward as a silver sponsor at educational exhibitions such as Future Minds is a good testament of its commitment. The countless opportunities the students get through exhibitions such as this should be appreciated. Commenting on SLIM’s role at the exhibition, SLIM CEO Sanath Senanayake said that with the positive experience SLIM has had in participating at Future Minds on previous occasions, it decided to be a Silver Sponsor this year too. The enthusiasm of the prospective students, the enormous effort extended by the SLIM staff and the support by the Future Minds organising committee helped immensely to highlight SLIM at the event. All students who registered at the event availed themselves of valuable discounts for their choice of program and all of them were entitled for a raffle draw of which offered them a 50% discount for selected study programs that they have been registered. SLIM’s decision taken to participate at the exhibition was because “Future Minds” is a well-established educational exhibition in the country which attracts many students and professionals, this makes it an ideal marketing opportunity for SLIM. The designer stall of SLIM attracted many students who were enlightened about the SLIM programs. Many were interested in following the courses which SLIM offers.
