Pedro Estate Nuwara Eliya has established yet another all time record price at this week’s tea auction held on 6 March 2013 by securing an attractive price of Rs. 1,200 per kg, for a liquoring FBOP grade selling under the ‘Lover Leap’ mark.

Not too long ago, it had the distinction of registering an all time record price of Rs. 1,000 per kg on 13 February 2013, for a liquoring OP grade.

Pedro Estate is uniquely located to produce a good quality tea right throughout the year, due to the location of the tea fields. Pedro teas benefit from the Western quality season as well as the Eastern (Uva) quality season. The present tea factory has a unique history, as it was formally opened by the Duke of Edinburgh in 1954, when he visited Sri Lanka with the queen.

The line of tea was sold by tea brokers John Keells and was purchased by Elink Schuurman Ceylon, currently is managed by Kelani Valley Plantations.
