NCCSL briefs Health Minister on Arogya 2012 progress

A delegation headed by National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka President Asoka Hettigoda met Minister of Health Maithripala Sirisena on 5 July 2012 to brief the progress of Arogya 2012 International Healthcare Exhibition and Symposium organised by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Health.

  In addition to the Minister, senior officials from the Ministry including Additional Secretary D.M.R.B Dissanayaka, Additional Secretary Somarathna Vidhanapathirana, Health Services Director General Ajith Mendis, Health Education Bureau Director Dr. Neelamani Hewageeganage and heads of several units in the Ministry participated at the briefing.

It was revealed that, out of a total of 160 stalls about 140 stalls have already been reserved by both public and private sector organisations engaged in Healthcare sector.  Almost all the major private sector Hospitals including Nawaloka Hospital, Asiri Hospital, Ninewells Hospital, Lanka Hospital, Oasis Hospital, Delmon Hospital and many medical related products and services providers have taken stalls.

In addition, Health Ministries in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Northern and Eastern Provinces have also made their reservations. With regard to the international participation, India and Singapore have confirmed their presence in a significant way. Many countries such as India, Singapore, Bangladesh, Pakistan and China who are interested in investing in Sri Lankan Healthcare sector will bring business delegations to explore investment opportunities.

Argoya 2012 will be held from 17 to 19 August at the BMICH Colombo.

The Exhibition will be opened for the public in all three days. A special bus services will be provided from Borella to Bambalapititya for the public to visit the event easily. Projects introduced to combat communicable diseases, country’s success in heart and kidney transplant and other important health related activities will also be exhibited by the relevant specialised units. All the school children with school uniforms will have free entrance to the exhibition in all three days.
