Nakauchi to address Japanese Management Seminar

Akihiko Nakauchi, Chairman of Colombo Dockyard PLC Ltd. will be the keynote speaker at the seminar on ‘Lean Journey towards Profits – The Japanese Way’ to be held on 6 March at the Grand Oriental Hotel, Colombo Fort from 9a.m. to 1.30p.m.

The seminar is being organised by the Japanese Graduates Alumni Association (JAGAAS) as part of a series of events to mark the 60th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Japan and Sri Lanka.

Nakauchi who graduated in Civil Engineering from the prestigious Kobe University of Japan in 1979 had a long and distinguished career in Japan’s Mitsui Engineering and Ship Building Company and assumed duties as its Managing Director in 2006. Since October 2009 Akihiko Nakauchi has functioned as Chairman of Colombo Dockyard PLC which is widely acknowledged to be one of the most successfully managed Japanese Overseas Enterprises.

The Seminar which brings together a mix of Academics and Industry Practitioners will have as its other resource persons. University of Colombo Faculty of Management and Finance Dr. M. Saman Dasanayaka, General Manager, Lean Enterprise of MAS Holdings Parakrama Gunasekera and Lanka Harness Pvt. Ltd. Managing Director Rohan Pallewatte. The panelists will be University of Colombo Dean of the Faculty of Management and Finance, Prof. H.D. Karunarathne, University of Colombo Professor in Finance, Faculty of Management and Finance Prof. P.S.M. Gunarathne and FDK Lanka LtdAdvisor Upananda Mallikarachchi. The Chief Guest will be Ambassador for Japan in Sri Lanka Nobuhito Hobo.
