The iPhone 17 emerged as the world’s best-selling smartphone in the first quarter of 2026, accounting for 6% of global shipments, according to preliminary data from Counterpoint Research.

The model displaced the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which had led global rankings in the final quarter of 2025 with a 5% share, followed by the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro.

The latest data places the iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Pro in second and third positions respectively, consolidating Apple’s presence at the top end of the market.

Apple accounted for four of the top 10 best-selling devices globally, with the iPhone 16 also featuring in the rankings.

The remainder of the list was dominated by mid-range models, led by the Samsung Galaxy A07 4G and Samsung Galaxy A17 5G, followed by the Samsung Galaxy A56 and Samsung Galaxy A36. The Samsung Galaxy A17 4G and Xiaomi Redmi A5 completed the top 10.

The shift in rankings reflects continued demand for Apple’s latest base model alongside sustained volume in lower-priced Android devices, particularly in emerging markets.
