The International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) Sri Lanka will conduct an educational forum to re-define the role of the modern business analyst on 8 April 2013 at the Virtusa auditorium.

The IIBA is an independent, non-profit, professional association for the growing field of business analysis.

IIBA Sri Lanka Head of Millennial Generation Sajith Samaraweera stated: “Time is ample, to build an argument, to re-think the direction of this strategic role. This attempt is to give a new interpretation, a new definition, a new delineation to the evolving role the modern business analyst.”

The forum themed ‘Modern business analyst redefined’ will bring in an experienced panel of experts to share their opinion on this evolving role. Three of the most prominent business figures will make presentations at this forum: Global Consulting Services IBM – Head of Business Consulting Riza Wadood, IFS Research and Development – Director Software Development Channa De Silva and Virtusa Senior Manager – Business Consulting Anas Mohammed.

IIBA Sri Lanka President Yasith Abeynayake stated: “As an innovation-driven professional association and as the community representation for business analysis practitioners, who recommend solutions that enable business entities to achieve their business goals, we always pride ourselves on setting new benchmarks in professional forums.

“This month’s forum themed ‘Modern business analyst redefined’ will focus on finding our own identity among ever changing business environment. The IIBA Sri Lanka team would like to invite business analysis practitioners from IT and non-IT environments to this forum,” Abeynayake said.

IIBA’s goal is to create greater awareness of the business analyst profession by defining what is business analysis and working towards recognition of the value of the business analyst role.

The role of the business analyst has evolved significantly over the past years and is seen as a key value-adding role in the modern organisational environment. From the traditional interpretations of being able to liaise between stakeholders to bridge the gap across different domains in identifying the business requirement, the role has expanded into a wider scope of enriched tasks and is positioned as a role of strategic value.

The Sri Lankan chapter of IIBA has been a key stakeholder in modulating this evolution with a visionary view to strengthen the strategic importance of the modern business analyst.
