Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC (DIMO) recently appointed four new directors to its Board effective from 1st June 2016. The new directors are Asite Talwatte, Vijitha Bandara, Wijith Pushpawela and Chaminda Ranawana.
Asite Talwatte is the former Country Managing Partner at Ernst & Young, a position in which he served for over a decade. He brings with him vast experience gleaned over a career spanning 37 years at the premier corporate accounting firm, which includes experience at the Company’s offices in Cleveland, Ohio.He currently serves as Chairman of Management Systems (Pvt) Limited (MSL).
Talwatte holds an MBA from the University of Sri Jayawardenapura and is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accounts of the U.K, (CIMA) and served as President of ICASL and CIMA in 2002/2003 and 1995/96 respectively. He presently chairs the Committee to review the applicability of Integrated Reporting in Sri Lanka as well as the Committee reviewing the Corporate Governance Code. He has also served as a non-executive director on boards of listed companies, public companies and state owned enterprises.
Vijitha Bandara counts over 20 years of experience in Management and Marketing. He holds a Postgraduate Certificate from the University of Southern Queensland Australia and a Diploma in Business Management from the University of Colombo. At the time of his appointment, he was also a member of the Group Management Committee and also the Chief Operating Officer of TATA Commercial and Passenger Vehicles at DIMO.
Wijith Pushpawela is a Mechanical Engineer and holds a degree from the University of Greenwich, UK. He possesses over 20 years of experience in Engineering and Management. At the time of his appointment, he was also a member of the Group Management Committee, Director and Chief Operating Officer of DIMO (Pvt) Ltd. His work experience prior to joining DIMO includes serving as a Research Engineer in UK.
Chaminda Ranawana holds a MBA from Warnaborough University-UK, and counts over 30 years of experience in the Storage, Material Handling Equipment and Construction Machinery industry including Senior Management positions. Having commenced his career at the Hayleys Group, he moved on to United Tractor and Equipment Ltd, prior to joining DIMO. At the time of his appointment, he was also a member of the Group Management Committee, Director of DIMO (Pvt) Ltd and also the Chief Operating Officer of Construction & Mining, Storage & Material Handling and Fluid Management businesses.
