The World Trade Center (WTC) Colombo won the Gold Award for the Most Energy Efficient Building in Sri Lanka at the Sri Lanka National Energy Efficiency Awards 2025, organised by the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority under the guidance of the Ministry of Power and Energy.
The award ceremony, held on 24 February at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall, was graced by Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, Power and Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody, and Deputy Minister Arkam Ilyas along with several distinguished guests and industry leaders.
The recognition highlights WTC Colombo’s continued commitment to sustainable building operations, advanced energy management practices, and responsible resource utilisation. Through a combination of modernised building systems, energy-efficient equipment, and continuous monitoring of energy performance, the landmark commercial complex has successfully achieved significant reductions in energy consumption while maintaining world-class standards for tenant comfort and operational excellence.
The achievement reflects the dedication and strategic vision of the management team and operational staff, who have consistently implemented innovative solutions to enhance building efficiency. These initiatives not only contribute to lowering operational costs but also support Sri Lanka’s broader goals of reducing energy demand and promoting environmental sustainability.
This national recognition reinforces the importance of integrating sustainability and energy efficiency into modern building operations, positioning WTC Colombo as a model for environmentally responsible and economically resilient infrastructure in Sri Lanka.
Overseas Realty (Ceylon) PLC Head of Facilities Management WTC Colombo Jeewaka Samarasekara was also recognised as the Outstanding Energy Manager of the Year 2025 at the awards ceremony.
